I'm {lovin'} It?

Thursday {14 Oct 2010} I pulled up out front to see this:

When I had left to go volunteer, I had seen them over in the park across the street, but of course, didn't have my camera with me! What was it they were doing? FILMING A COMMERCIAL! Umm, hello? This is as close to Hollywood as I've ever been! I immediately head upstairs to get my camera... oh, and to walk Fiona- Bosco would have freaked out! I came back down to see this:

I guess they were headed out for lunch, but the director told me they would be back in a bit and I would be able to get some pictures! Awesome. In the meantime, Fiona was quite the hit with the child star. She asked if she could hold her, and I agreed, not really sure if Fiona would bite her face off or not {kidding, kind of}. I was so very proud of Fiona though! Normally she is very protective of her momma, but she wasn't barking, and was held like a champ! The little girl fell in love with her and asked if she was expensive. My first thought was, "Hey kid, you're a star! Take your money and buy a Pomeranian if you want!" I guess it doesn't work like that.

Her mom whisked her away for lunch and Fiona and I went back inside. I kept my eye out and when they came back, I was back outside watching Hollywood in action!

I started off hiding behind the fence so I could snap a few pictures. One of the women had previously yelled at me for it, even though the head guy said I could.
I kind of felt like a creep for crouching in the bushes watching a McDonald's commercial be filmed. Good thing I'm a female and wasn't wearing a trench! You know I had to get a picture of the house! It's like being on a studio set, except I walk by it all the time!
This is the house next door. The neighbor's weren't in the commercial- just their house.
When they were finished filming, they let me get a picture with him! What do you say when you meet a "celebrity"? Oh, easy, I said "Hi! I promise you I'm an adult, but would you mind taking a picture with me?" He and the "Hollywood" people laughed at that one. He was super friendly though! They thought it was neat when I told them I was from Virginia and this was the coolest thing I'd ever seen! They were as excited to meet a Virginian as I was to meet them! You know, because Virginia is so exotic!

The first celebrity I've met, other than Marmaduke.
He was great! Super friendly and a blast to watch interact with kids.
Then, I went back up to the apartment, and called Nan to tell her all about it. It was then I heard screaming coming from the park! Was Davy Jones over there? Nope- Just a gaggle of children and my pal Ronny!

Running from kids in the park! Who is that, Justin Bieber, or Ronny?

Thanks to the folks over at, an online community about Coronado, I was able to see some pictures of them filming in Spreckles Park.

Shooting over in the park!

The Nado Cheerleaders in formation, I suppose with Ronny leading in a cheer!
When I first arrived "on scene" I mentioned it was awkward they would be shooting a commercial for McDonald's when the only one on the Island was on base! They didn't take too kindly to that. Just the facts though... just the facts!

I was also surprised when I was on the sidelines talking to a cute couple- who ended up being the extras! They were hired to walk down the street in the background! How crazy is that... every little detail scripted and planned. Certainly one of the most impressive experiences of my time on the island. Thanks, Coronado!

At first glance I thought Ronald was trying to grab your boob, but then I realized it was a thumbs up, not an obscene gesture. That is pretty cool!
