What I'm Reading :: The Guardian Duke // CLOSED

Hello friends! I'm back with a very exciting episode in my recent love affair with Romance Novels! (*hint*hint*: YOU could win a copy of this book!) I was provided a copy of the book and anxiously awaited it's arrival in my mailbox! There is just something about the smell of a new book- is there not?

I wasn't sure how I would like The Guardian Duke, by Jamie Carie. It is a historical fiction with a Christian centered message. I was afraid it would be kind of corny- but I could not put this book down! The story follows Lady Alexandria Featherstone on a journey to find her treasure hunting parents after the Prince Reagent declares them dead. She has been appointed the ward to the Duke of St. Easton and is none too pleased about it. She knows in her heart that her parents are alive and out there somewhere.

We follow the correspondence between Lady Alexandria and the Duke- and watch them begin to fall in love with each other through their letters. But of course there are turns around every corner as the Duke chases her down on her journey from England, through Ireland and onward in her search! She is a strong female lead with funny sidekicks she meets along the way helping her on her journey.

Hands down one of the better books I've read. There's no trash in this romance novel- just a majestic love story from days of olde!

  1. Wow, your review makes this book sound extremely interesting! Once I find a book I enjoy, I end up following everything the author does, so thanks for the heads-up!
In the cute Christian fiction category... Enter Phoebe Grant, a classic movie fanatic, aspiring to be the next Roger Ebert. Her dreams are about to come true and more, as she meets the hottie Alex, until... she ends up all alone back in her boring hometown. Or is she alone?
"Dreaming in Black & White" by Laura Jensen Walker was a fun read that made me want to see every film she mentioned within it. :)

  2. She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb- not a romance novel... but absolutely riveting none the less. I am also currently right in the middle of the Steig Larson trilogy (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Girl Who Plays with Fire. ect) and they are pretty stinking good so far too!
