Date Nine: Family Trailing {52 Dates With My Husband}

Sunday I wrote a post talking about how we're outdoorsy and all now. Monday, we went over again and decided that was our date for the weekend. No going out to eat, we didn't even pack a picnic! We simply took about an hour and a half to enjoy nature, walk with the dogs, and talk to each other! That's the best part about the great outdoors: There are minimal distractions!

On the way back! We started at the Hospital- that building in the upper right hand side.
We are so blessed to be stationed at Camp Pendleton. THIS WAS A FREE DATE! There are fun trails all over base, and all you have to do is find a parking spot and hit them running! We learned a few things from our walk they day before, like to bring a back pack with water and a bowl for the dogs since it was hot outside. We figured we could walk longer if we could stop and give them water breaks.

It also turned into a family affair as Fiona begged to come with us. She was not having the boys go on an adventure and be left at home!

Pants & Jacket: Baby Phat from Macy's
Trail Shoes: My new ASICS babies! AMAZING!
She was a trooper as we began our day. She walked and even jogged a little with us, but then we noticed she was pulling up the rear instead of really walking with us. What can we say, her little legs just couldn't hack it, and so she ended up riding the walk:

Now I know there is going to be someone who thinks that's unsafe and not fair... au contraire! She was happy as a clam back there!

We would catch glimpses of her: tongue wagging, ears back, wind blowing in her hair! I think she preferred this mode of transport to actually having to walk like a peasant... she's fancy!

She finished strong after about 30 minutes being carried. She made s proud even being able to run for a short distance with us!

We had such a fun time! Walking, talking about God only knows what and everything under the sun! Breathing in the fresh air! Seeing ducks and turkey vultures- we even saw a big bunch of birds take off out of the brush and almost give us heart attacks! Good thing we're getting healthy!

The great outdoors makes one amazing venue for a date day! Do you hit up trails? Have any tips for a couple of newbies?

SO proud of you!! I've recently started into the "getting fit" for real area, and I'm walking 1-2 miles a day. It makes SUCH a difference in my attitude!!

Now we need to get you back home for a visit so I can finally meet you in person. But don't wear your hot pink Baby Phat jacket to come see me, unless you want to leave it here!! hehe

I miss Pendleton! Sounds like you're doing all the right things. Water is important. The husband took up mountain bike riding last year and I'm thinking about trying it out, but it's a little intimidating. Might be safer to stay on my feet! :-)
