Date Seven: Valentine's Day EVE Traditions {52 Dates With My Husband}

This year we are making up for the last three Valentine's days missed. That can be SO MUCH pressure! What kind of awesome gift do I get for Gene? What kind of awesome gift will he get me? What if we both get something lame?

... What if WE BOTH got SOMETHING LAME?!

Just like that an idea was born and we headed out to have our first Valentine's Day Eve celebration!  Gene would get to pick where we would dine on our pre-valentinian celebration and we would stop by Walgreens for the lamest, most obnoxious gift we could find for each other! The rules: First: we couldn't spend more than $20. We both went over by a couple bucks, but I'm proud of us for not breaking the bank to "show our love". Second: Whatever we bought for eachother we would keep forever {a la the kid in The Sandlot}.

We would use our yearly gifts as decorations over the years for Valentine's Day! Naturally, we would have to get a last minute card from the picked over selection. We actually got lucky and our Walgreens wasn't too picked over!

I don't know about Gene, but I was able to get a Hallmark that was HILARIOUS!
Then the fun began of finding the perfect lame gift. I'm not even kidding you: There was a pink daschund stuffed dog that said "I love you" in Spanish which I thought would be perfect since our first Valentine's as husband and wife is in a town with a mostly Mexican population and culture. There was no way I was getting that thing rung up and out of the store without Gene knowing though, so I opted for something less obnoxious. I regret it. Although what I got him is amazing non the less and still has some Spanish flare! We scoured the picked over aisle of goodies and I think we both found something that is perfect.

So tonight over dinner we will share our lame gifts, straight out of their Walgreens bags, and we will love them forever. F O R E V E R!

Happy Valentine's Day friends!

Be sure to stop back tomorrow as I share all about what fun gifts we did get each other and our delicious dinner date night!
