We're Outdoorsy Athletic People!

When I began this year wanting to make it the year of great health, I had no idea where we would be as of writing this. A minimal 48 days into 2013 I feel healthier. On this, the forty eighth day of the year, we made the decision to make this new way of life a lifestyle for us, a hobby we were proud to take part in! We even used heading to the track as a DATE! Who the heck were these new people in our bodies?

Don't mind his lack of shave!
A week into training for my 5K, I had unbearable knee pain. I headed down to Road Runner Sports on the recommendation of several friends. More on that in another post, it's a good one! But long story short, I got some good new running shoes!

The decision was tough, but I went with the blue ones.
The minute I put on these shoes, with my custom insoles, my knee pain virtually vanished! I was pumped and ready to get back on the track! Sadly, the track was closed to add lighting! I've been going over to the Harbor and walking with a girlfriend about once a week, but was so happy to get back out on the track rocking some new gear!

Sunglasses: Toms Sandella
Jacket and Pants: Baby Phat from Macy's
Sneakers: Mizuno Wave Inspire 9 from Road Runner Sports
I took it easy and my knees, legs, feet, and whole body felt amazing! We decided we would step it up a notch and get the boys involved in our outings! We went to Petco and got them new harnesses and leashes and decided to take them on a walk out on the trails by the hospital.

Sunglasses: Toms Sandella
Jacket & Shirt: Gifted from Nan, purchased at JCPenny
Shoes: Mizuno Wave Inspire 9
Socks peeking out: $1.50 hot pink zebra socks from Target
Harnesses and Leases: Cesar Millan from Petco
We had a fun morning today out enjoying the sun and a nice long walk of about an hour. We wore the boys out and we had fun together! We're going to make it a weekend event to take the boys out, so we stopped back into Road Runner Sports and got some trail sneakers today! I think we're officially outdoorsy, athletic people!

I went with ASICS GEL-Fuji Trainer 2
Gene went with: (on foot) a pair of trail shoes ASICS GT-2000
Gene also went with the Blue Mizuno Wave Rider 16 shoes
We are facing 2013 head on, overcoming challenges and making healthier choices. We are fast food free so far for the year and soda free for over a month! Progress is being made and we're not slowing down on progress!

Are you still on track with your goals for 2013? I hope to share more with you as our outdoorsy athleticism builds! We'll be back out there tomorrow with the boys for sure! Follow along on Instagram for all the events in my weight loss journey as they're happening!

Great choices as far as running shoes go! While I have been an Asics runner for years, I always try Mizunos and they wouldn't be my choice if my little feet weren't so happy in Asics :-)

And you look fabulous, Elizabeth! <3

Yay for new shoes!! I think its great that you are keeping up with your goals! I need to get more active with the kids ... if only the weather would decide what season it wanted to be -- one day its 30 and snowing and the next its sunny and 60 out. Gah, NC weather!!
