Do You Meal Plan?

HELLO, HELLO! You want to know a secret, friends? I'm the worst when it comes to meal planning. THE.WORST. I try it, and we occasionally stick to what we actually wrote down and came up with! There have been numerous times when I have thrown food away because that chicken sat in my fridge for three weeks (stinky!) or those peppers on my shelf didn't quite get diced in time to use!

In an effort to make the most of our grocery budget and really take control of our diet (as in what we put into our mouths, not some crazy scheme to lose weight) I am teaming up with Jane from Taingamala and we are starting a weekly Monday Meal Planning Blog Hop! Our first one will be next Monday! I hope you come on over, see what I'm making, and share what you're making! I can always use ideas!

I'll be linking to the pins or books where I have found my recipes and I would love for you to do the same so folks can be inspired by your culinary genius!

Link Up Rules
*Follow the hosts: Jane from Taingamala and Elizabeth from The Young Retiree
*Link to ONE POST (not your blog url) with your meal planning for the week, or a recipe
*Spread the word with our button (coming to you in our first link up next Monday!) in your post or on your sidebar!

Are you ready for a little pre-hop meal planning? This is what we're having this week:

Monday: Pineapple Rum Chicken, fresh pineapple, salad

This one is an easy one folks! I'm just using some chicken thighs and some Spicy Pineapple Rum Sauce from Pampered Chef! I'll be cooking them in the oven, chopping up some fresh pineapple to serve along the side and fixing a Caesar salad to go with it.

Tuesday: Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers, Caesar salad, sweet potato tots (Alexis brand)!

If you haven't heard all about these you can check out my post about the first time I made them. They are pretty much a weekly dish in our house! PLUS: I've started making extra to chop up and add into omelets! This week I'm using Applegate roast beef, so I'll see how it is compared to the thin sliced Dietz & Watson!

Wednesday: Tomato Balsamic Steak, twice baked potatoes, salad

This one is a favorite in our house, and yet one we don't eat all too often! I marinade steaks in Paleochef Tomato Balsamic dressing and bake them. The potatoes are from Costco.

Thursday: date night!

Friday: Garlic Pork, salad, Bird's Eye Steamfresh Baby Broccoli Blend

Saturday: For breakfast on Saturday morning I have been making a delicious breakfast casserole from PaleOMG! I'm sharing it this week instead of our dinner (probably left overs)!

Sunday: Italian Chicken, Caesar salad, green beans

It's as easy as that, friends! You can add pictures, but you don't have to! You can just share a recipe for one thing you're making during the week, or your entire week of dinners!

The link up will start next Monday both here and over at Jane's (but you only have to enter your link once)! I'm looking forward to all the yummy things you all are making!

PS: Can we give a super big high five to my friend and sponsor, Heather? You can find her blogging at Life Unexpected! She is in a photojournalism class right now and took those awesome pictures of me meal planning and grocery shopping for a project she is working on, which just so happened to work great with this series! She is a master behind the camera, friends!

So excited for this! I do a lot of meal planning due to my crazy Paleo diet, and I'd love to share some of the yummy recipes I've found...not to mention finding some great ones through the other bloggers!

I'll be here!! I've been sharing my meal plan for two week. Having it up on the site makes it so easy to just come look at what I planned and click the link for the recipe. I love being able to shop with a list too! It saves a ton of money.

I try to do a fexible meal plan. Whenever I set things for a full week we never follow through. Becasue of that We will make a list of meals we want for the next two weeks. Anything that has time sensitive items (fresh veggies or dairy mainly) are done earlier in the week while other ones are obviously done later. we also keep several freezer meals and quick easy meals on hand in case neither of us are up for cooking. It's not perfect but it works for us.

I am so terrible at meal planning. I think I would do better if we grocery shopped weekly, but we always do one big trip to Sam's Club and then pick up other items as we need them. I think it would seriously stress me out less if I planned.

I am *so* looking forward to this. Lately, Ive been in a rut when it comes to menu planning and we're eating the same meals over and over. Even with a ton of things pinned on my pinterest, I just lose the enthusiasm I used to have for menu planning!! Cant wait to get out of the rut!

I've gotten so lazy with meal planning but I'm definitely going to start back up. There is no way I can not meal plan and stay within budget. I like to hit up Costco and get a bunch of staples in bulk and then I get the rest/my vegan stuff from Trader Joes. And thanks for the shout out! I'm so happy part of my project also fit with your post!
