Oh, The Places You''ll Go {52 Lists//Week 9}

When I was little, if you would have asked me where I wanted to go, I would have told you across the Mississippi! I never had grand plans of visiting Paris in the spring or walking around Rome. The United States seemed so big and adventurous! Now that I'm older, made it across the Mississippi, made two cross country road trips, and have seen part of the United States in all her glory the list of places I want to go is expanding!

When I graduated High School, my very favorite Aunt, my Aunt Betty, gave me the Dr. Seuss book Oh, The Places You'll Go. I may have written my college entrance essay for my applications, on the best book I ever read... and that book may have been The Lorax. OK, you caught me, it was. I think the book may have been given to me as a joke, but the meaning behind it was powerful!

So now, I have a list of places I want to go, a list which is ever growing, and a list Gene and I are working at crossing things off of!

  • First and foremost: IRELAND! I don't often dream about European vacations or international travel, but to step foot on the motherland would be amazing!
  • Oregon- they're kind of the forgotten state I think, but I would love to vacation there!
  • San Francisco!
  • Florida! I've never been!
  • Hiking a list of trails with Gene- we're working on a new project where we go to a new one each week!
  • Death Valley
  • MAINE! Preferably in September. I think it would be gorgeous then!
  • An Alaskan cruise!
  • A Mediterranean cruise!
  • HOME! We just don't get there enough.
  • Bourbon St. Just to experience jazz bands, fried pastries, and sweet southern history!
  • The redwood forest!
  • North Dakota. I don't know why... just to say I was there?
  • Every MLB stadium - How fun would it be to tour the US hitting every park one season?
  • Seattle!
  • The zoo - we don't go nearly as often as I'd like!
  • Sea World! I've never been!
  • Disneyland- never been here either!
  • Mount Rushmore
  • The Grand Canyon
  • The Hoover Dam
  • MORE NATIONAL PARKS
  • The Body Farm. Ultimately, when I die, I would love my body to be donated to the body farm at the University of Tennessee... my family does not agree.
Then there are a few "places" that aren't really places at all:
  • Yoga - Just once, I'd like to try it!
  • Church with Gene - We just haven't figured this one out yet!
  • To get acupuncture! I don't even like needles, but I think that would be interesting!
  • Camping
  • A psychic reading! I had it done once and it couldn't have been MORE WRONG, but golly was it good entertainment!
  • To a blog conference! How fun would it be meeting bloggy friends in real life?
  • For a couples massage!
  • More manicures and pedicures!
  • To get my hair done more often.
My dream for our retirement is to buy an RV, throw all of our stuff in storage, and drive across this beautiful country we live in, just taking in all the sights! That's my dream! Where do you want to go friends? Head on over to Moorea Seal for more inspiring lists!

This week: this week we are going CAMPING! We are exploring a new trail and making s'mores and having a BLAST! Stay tuned next week for all the fun and of course follow on instagram for all the sneaks!

I LOVE your list! We have a lot of places in common. I can't wait until we are in a situation where we can travel more. Between Daniel's schedule and non-existent time off it just isn't happening for us right now. Le sigh! But, I recently decided that I WILL be celebrating my 30th birthday in Paris. Now I just have 5 years to figure out how. lol

Ahh Maine. Thats home!! Born and Raised -- and you are right, Autumn in Maine is beautiful. All the leaves turn colors near the end of September and if you go on a foliage drive just before they fall, its gorgeous. Then there's moosehead lake and Mt Kineo and Baxter State Park and Acadia ... Old Orchard Beach [though it tends to be crawling with Canadian old men these days!! Who wear teeny bikinis! Ha Ha] Thats about the one time of year I really miss being back home. The winter?! NOT so much!
