Slim Down Sunday : 3.17.13

Oh friends: This weekend was a hard weekend for me to think about being slim! Saint Patty's Day has always been a beloved holiday for my family, and drinking usually starts at breakfast! My hubby and I are planning on having some sweet whiskey cake later today as a treat to ourselves with a shot of Jameson's! *Side note: IT'S A PALEO RECIPE! (well, except for the added whiskey! Deets this week!) But enough about my debauchery of a day, and let's get to talking about another awesome week!

This was the first week of our P90X workout! Y'all... I was NOT a fan of yoga day, and neither were our dogs. They barked for about ten minutes (at 0400!) until we stopped!

That's me "shushing" Fiona!
Other than that, I really have enjoyed the workouts, the weight training involved, and have even gotten used to the getting up at 0345 to get started before breakfast!

Afternoon Wacky Jacks, 3.9.13
This week did not show results on the scale, which is fine. I know I'm probably gaining muscle and losing fat, which is all I really care about, but golly, wouldn't it be nice to see the number go down?

Starting Weight: 282.6 // Week 1: 284.2 for a weight gain of 1.6lbs

As far as measurments:

Neck: 16", stayed the same
Right Arm: 15" (down from 16" last week) // -1.0
Left Arm: 14.5" (down from 17" last week) // -2.5
Bust (wearing the same sports bra... I'm not sure how else to measure?): 48", stayed the same
Chest (right under breasts): 43 (down from 45"!) // -2
Smallest part of waist: 46" (which is actually up 1" from last week)
Biggest part of waist: 50" (down from 51" last week) // -1
Hips: 56" (up from 55" last week) //+1
Right Thigh: 27.5", stayed the same
Left Thigh: 26.5" (down from 28" last week) // -1.5
Right Calve: 18" (down from 19" last week) //-1
Left Calve: 17" (down from 19" last week) //-2

I AM pleased with the inches lost. I feel the measurements are fairly accurate as Gene was measuring me. Aside from the weight gain and a few inches gained here and there: I. FEEL. GREAT! I've been sleeping better (um, we go to bed by 8:30!), I'm feeling better, I'm already feeling stronger, and I'm not as moody (at least I don't think). I'm still debating if I want to add cardio in on the days I do strength training. I don't know if that would wear me down or build me up! At least hit the trails and do some 5K training on those days, maybe!

In our challenge group we talked about adding in more greens this week and so I have been adding spinach to my Shakeology! I've been pleased to discover you can't really taste it AT ALL! One cup gets thrown in every day, as well as trying it in omelets, on Paleo sandwiches, and obviously in salads!

If you are on this journey with me, how was your week? Here's to another week of being fit and flab-you-less!

I know most people look at inches lost rather than actual weight loss. I think you are doing wonderful!

Way to go on your first week! It is so easy to get caught up in inches and pounds lost, but I always try to tell myself that what I am doing is the best thing for my health. With every rep I am ensuring that I will live a longer, happier, and healthier life. The means are just as important as the ends when it comes to health. There may be weeks with no progress (lord knows I've had them) and it's so important to remember that the benefits are so much more than what you can see and measure.

Hey girl I am over from the link up! I think you are so smart for having taken measurements, that way when you see a slight gain you still see all the inches you have lost, so you can keep the motivation up! I have too started throwing spinach into my omelet and things, and its not bad at all!! great work!! Keep it up!!

Hello! I am visiting from the linkup and am a new follower!

Congrats on your first week! The inches are more important that the weight in my opinion... Inches change your size, a number on a scale just changes your mood!

Keep working hard this week! I am excited to see your progress in the upcoming weeks!

Way to go! I track weight and inches. If I don't lose one week, then I get that tape measure out. I'm stopping by from the spring training link up.
