Over the weekend Gene and I escaped the sun of San Diego County and headed up into autumnal bliss of the San Bernardino National Forest to Big Bear, CA! We've been in Southern California since April 2010 and just now made it up to this little slice of heaven nestled in the mountains! It was the perfect way to spend my 29th birthday weekend!
|I don't know what that pose is on the bottom.|
Apparently something new I was trying out?
Also: bottom right is not snow, rather a dry rived bed with a tiny creek running through
It was the nicest one they had, and we lucked into it because the kids who were there before us got sick from the snow earlier in the week and had to go home early! It was GORGEOUS and cabiny, and a cozy little spot to spend our down time!
We hit up the Stanfield Marsh Wildlife and Waterfowl Preserve the first evening we were there!
If you ever head to Big Bear, be sure to take an hour or two and walk the boardwalk! We saw tons of ducks playing in the water, more snow along the shoreline, hunted for pine cones and of course admired the view!
We had one of the best lunches we've ever had at The Peppercorn Grill in "The Village" once more, enjoying the view of the autumn tree-lined street!
Oh, and of course, we spent a morning walking along the lake shore of Big Bear Lake!
|Among our sightings was a pretty awesome falcon|
AND: a bald eagle!
These of course are just a few of the highlights! I'll be back all week sharing some more!
